Every track has a long history of legends. Some had great career achievements, some won a season accomplishment. But a few long-time racers possess both qualities. They are known for big wins, fast cars, or personalities that are larger than life. Even fewer still are so memorable that they are known simply for a car, nickname, or just by one name. For example, say "Lonnie," "Chad," "Too Tall," or "The Purple Willy's" and everyone knows the respective hall-of-famer you're talking about.

Gerald Edwards is one such racer. He has been a part of CCD for nearly as long as it's been open. Gerald got his first race car in 1976, a 1969 RT 440 6-pack car, which was followed shortly thereafter by a black Plymouth Fury. This, too, was replaced a couple of years later by "The White Car," a car that to this day, I believe is his favorite race car—a 1963 Plymouth Max Wedge car—with which he won his first time out with that car at CCD. He's raced many cars over the years, all with much success, including a track championship in S/P 1989. He's won races on a motorcycle, in street cars, and in dragsters.

Gerald is also respected as a mechanic, and his knowledge on the track went far beyond almost everyone else he raced. In addition to "The White Car," he's also known by his cars "Black Magic," "Hustle Stuff," and "The Screamin' Genie," and he, himself, is known simply by his mononym, "Gerald."
